We’re not going back to the £5 ticket days, with inflation and so on, but that was the model of old.
However, while the complaints on prices are irksome, there’s no going back. ‘Free’ music is out of the can, and entitlement with it.
My concern is for indie artists. If so-called fans don’t buy the music and don’t want to pay for tickets that help artists break even or - god forbid - make a profit, we end up in the glurge we’re in now.
I think largely it feels like the complaints on ticket prices are more geared towards the top 0.1% and not in general. I think your concern over indie artists is well founded but perhaps it is a different issue? Would love to get you thoughts and experiences as an Indie artist and how we can fix the financial model around making art in a full article!
I couldn't agree more 👍👍👍
Thanks, glad you agree!
Good points. But — legacy artists aside — if fans want cheaper tickets they should buy the bloody albums.
But no, people cough up for a new phone and balk at paying for art.
Hey Trey, thanks for the comment! Do you think live tickets would be made cheaper if there were more album sales?

Sure. Hit me up.
Lots of sensible points here on a topic I hear people discussing almost every day.
